Jog Falls

Keeping the distance to be covered for our last day of trip in mind, started early morning from Murudeshwar and plan was to have breakfast at Honnavar and visit Sharavathi Suspension bridge and Sharavathi Valley View on the way to Jog falls.

From Honnavar on the way to Jog falls at a distance of 25 we get Sharavathi Suspension bridge, there is an option for boat ride at this place.

Nothing much to do at this place expect clicking some pics, you will get a nice pics around this suspension bridge. Spent some 20 to 30 mins here and headed towards Jog falls.

Once you travel another 23 Kms from this point we will get a watch tower to see Sharavathi Valley View. Good thing about these two places are no need to take any deviations from the main road, we will get to see both the places on road side itself, but be careful while parking your vehicles.

We will get to see one more waterfall on the way from road side, couple of times I tried to get information from the localities to go near the waterfall but no luck yet. We can see this only from road side!

After stopping multiple times finally reached the world famous jog falls :) we can view the falls from two different angles one is from side view or top view - Mungarumale view :P (its bit risky to reach this place). No need to pay any entrance or parking fee at this place.

View of guest house from the other side :)

The difference between these two view points is around 2.5Kms. It will take hardly 5 mins drive to reach the other view point. Here we need to pay Rs.30/- for car parking and Rs.5/- per person.

We thought of getting down from the stairs till the falls but considering the time constrains we postponed the plan. Just clicked couple of pics around this place and it was time to windup.

Headed back to Bengaluru after filling the loads of memories in my camera :)

Before reaching Bengaluru decided one thing no more long drives on Long weekends. It was a hell lot of traffic and took more than 5 hours to cover 70 Kms. Keeping this in mind trip plan will be done for future Journeys :)

Murudeshwar

After spending some relaxed time in Maravanthe Beach we headed towards Murudeshwar which is around 50 KMs from Maravanthe.  Even though the distance looks small in number easily it will kill the time, because narrow road. Expanding the road work is in progress and not sure how long it will take to complete.

Took almost 2 hours to reach Murudeshwar from Maravanthe and while entering the Murudeshwar only we came to know the effect of long weekend. We missed one small turn and cost more than 30 minutes to reach hotel which we booked.

Finally reached our destination and freshen up fast and headed towards temple for Darshana. Hotel guy informed us that temple will be closed from 1.00 PM to 3.00 PM and its good to finish lunch and go to temple around 3.30 or 4.00 to avoid huge crowd.

Finished our lunch and headed towards temple, since there was nothing much to do for rest of the day parked our car and went to temple by walk. Even traffic was in very bad shape and felt walk would be better option.

About Murudeshwar:

Murudeshwar is a small town in the state of Karnataka and is famous for the world’s second-tallest Shiva statue. Murudeshwar temple is a well known pilgrimage centre surrounded by Arabian sea on its 3 sides.

The Rajagopura at the entrance of the Temple complex is the world's tallest, standing at 249 feet. This is the newly added masterpiece and inaugurated in May 2008. The Gopura has 22 floors and is the only Gopura to be fitted with elevators. To take the elevator one will be changed Rs.10/-

Looking at the crowd we dropped our plan of taking the elevator, even we dropped a plan of getting into the water and after Darshana we were roaming around the temple just clicking the pics.

I was particularly looking for one frame under lights for that we waited for more than 2 hours! But after looking at the pics felt the wait was worth :)

Better to avoid these places during long weekend, particularly if you are traveling for photography! Since it was a last minute plan just sticked to it and captured the pics which we can.

After a round of shopping around headed back to hotel, fished our dinner and it was time for a much needed rest.

Plan for last day was to visit Jog Falls on the way to Bengaluru.

Drive through Maravante Beach

After spending awesome time around Agumbe we headed towards Murudeshwara via Maravante.  Our next destination was Murudeshwara which is around 120 Kms from the home stay we stayed.

We stopped near Maravanthe beach which is around 70 Kms from Agumbe. Maravanthe Beach stretches for a little less than 2 km, running parallel to NH 17, with the Suparnika River on the other side of the highway (which almost touches Arabian Sea here).

Now because of road widening and bridge construction we can’t get both Arabian Sea and Suparnika river in one frame, previously this place was very famous for the same, where we could have capture both sea and river in one frame.

There are couple of tea shops present near this beach were you can stop for some time to get refresh.

Spent some time in walking across the sea shore and clicking the pics. For our luck it was not so hot as it will in other days.

After clicking some pics, continued our journey towards Murudeshwara.

Vagamon Heights

After enjoying the morning Jeep drive to Ullupooni, we decided to relax at the resort. For the evening, we planned to visit Vagamon Heights,...
