Kalasa Dairies – Part – 3 : Kyatanamakki Hill

Kyatanamakki ride was suggested by the Homestay guy when we approach him for any other places to visit around. Since we didn’t plan anything specific for this trip.

After spending some time in Soormane waterfalls, he suggested us to visit Kyatanamakki during sunset time. He arranged a vehicle for us to visit Kyatanamakki. We need 4X4 wheel drive vehicle to reach Kyatanamakki peak.

Kyatanamakki hill station is located around 20 Km from Kalasa(purli home stay from the place we stayed and its near to Hornadu, we can visit to Hornadu temple also on the way). Kyatanamakki off road route offers a superb scenic beauty on top of the hill.

We started at 3.30 PM from homestay, and it was a wonderful experience traveling in this open jeep.

Till we reach Kyatanamakki hill base (parking place) road condition is good we can go by our own vehicle till there. From this point its another kind of experience.

Its almost 1-hour jeep ride from Homestay. We reached on time and searching for the place to sit and enjoy the sunset.

We can walk around for few distance around this peak.

Some beautiful landscape pics

Witnessed sunset, clicked some pics around and headed back to Homestay.

Best part of this journey was off road jeep drive and beautiful sunset.

Travel Tips:

  • Better to carry water bottle and some snacks (same time don’t throw empty bottles around, bring it back with you). There is no shops available around.
  • Carry warm cloths, while returning temp will drop suddenly.
  • Don’t try to drive on your own, 4X4 drive must require at this place.
  • Heard trekking option also open around this place but need to check.
  • For Jeep they charged 3.5K since they picked us from Homestay.

Kalasa Dairies – Part – 2 : Jegalappa waterfalls

This place is one of the hidden gems on the earth. Only few people know about this place. Most of the people visit Soormane waterfalls and come back. This waterfall is still untouched and won’t get information on google as well :)

Chinnu Anna during his earlier bike ride visited this place and he suggested to visit these falls. From Purli Homestay it was around 2 to 3 Kms, we need to walk through coffee estate to reach these waterfalls.

We started early morning from homestay, since we need to walk for a distance, we left kids in homestay only me and Chinnu anna went near waterfalls. On the way we missed a deviation went to someone’s home! It was a quite good place 😊

Though we missed the route it was a quite good walk around this place. We got some nice pics while reaching this beautiful waterfall.

Finally, we managed to reach falls and no one else were there and even water level was also too less and it allowed to climb till the top. During monsoon we cant even get into water near this place.

We started climbing the rocks and tried to reach top of the waterfalls.

First view of waterfalls 😊

And the Second one 😊

Ah finally we succeeded to reach top of the falls and could not resist ourselves from getting into water and take some pics 😜

Though it was a cold day we spent some time in water 😊

Decline was not so easy compared to climb.

It was awesome experience climbing and playing under this waterfall.

Travel Tips:

  • Take localities help to reach the waterfall.
  • Don’t try to get into waterfall during monsoon.

Kalasa Dairies – Part – 1 : Soormane waterfalls

Year 2020 was ending and wanted to end this on good note :) Things were slowly coming to normal and even we needed a break and come out of our homes!

Plan was to travel some remote place during last week of December. After some discussion and searching for place to visit, decided to explore Kalasa. Booked Purli Homestay near Kalasa (around 5 kms from town).

Homestay is around 310 Kms away from Namma Bengaluru and take around 6 to 7 hours to reach (again depends on the number of breaks we take). We started around 5.00 AM from Bengaluru and with multiple breaks reached home stay at 2.00 PM.

Before reaching home stay only we come across a small water stream, heard that during monsoon it will look as a waterfall :)

After reaching home stay, without wasting any time we just dumpped all our luggages in room and filled our tummies and headed towards waterfalls.

To reach waterfalls we need to walk around 1.5 Kms from the homestay. Still this place is not so popular and one of the hidden gem near Kalasa.

We will get some small streams while reaching the waterfalls

Same time its bit dangerous too, its better to avoid diving and all. Even surface is difficult to predict and avoid getting into water if you dont know swimming.

During monsoon, its bit difficult to reach and even leeches will be more!

Different view of waterfall

Over all awesome place to play in water, very clean too ðŸ™‚

There is a small hanging bridge near the home stay, while coming back stopped near that for a quick photo session ðŸ™‚

Better to carry snacks and drinking water, there is no option of getting any food near by if you are not stayed in near by home stay.

Early morning view near home stay.

Re-visited the falls early morning again just to click some pics. Always early morning clicks will be more beautiful ðŸ™‚

No one was around when we visited morning and it was a perfect time to capture the beauty of waterfall in our cameras ðŸ™‚

Mylapura Betta Trek

Mylapura is a small village in Chintamani Taluk, it’s around 13 KM from Chintamani & 73 KM from namma Bengaluru.

This is most attractive hill compare to the surrounding hills around Chintamani. Each time when I go for a hike with Sanjay, I asked him about this trek. Finally we decided to complete this trek, one of Sanjay’s friend also joined us for this trek.

Like other treks around Chintamani, trek can’t be completed in couple of hours. It’s one day trek and better to avoid in rainy season to escape from slippery rocks.

First of all, this place is a devotional place. Localities climb this hill with lot of custom. There is a beautiful Shiva Linga at the mid-way of the hill and one should have courage to reach that place.

We started our trekking after finishing breakfast (since it was a last minute plan), took around 15 minutes to reach the village. There is a small lake blow the hill, we parked our bikes near the lake and started our trekking.

Its better to carry water bottle and some energy bars along with you, since there is no other source of drinking water or stall options available.

Plan was to first reach the peak, spend some time in exploring the fort around and while coming down visit the devotional place.

From this point again next hike will become more difficult (late I came to know, this is not the regular route to reach the peak).

There is a huge fort around the hill, sadly its almost destroyed!!

It’s a quite peaceful place and one of the must visit places around Bengaluru. Spent some time in exploring the fort and clicking some pics and started descending the hill.

Once we reach the mid-way of the hill need to take a deviation to reach the Shiva temple.

It’s better to climb in bare foot. We need to cross one main steep with the help of chain. And use ladders to reach the temple (There is a fixed chain and ladders present around this place)

This is the final step to reach Shiva Linga 😊

Finally we reached our destination, could see lord Shiva 😊

There is no temple here, but I heard daily worship to Lord shiva will be held here.

Its worth visiting place, localities kept this place very clean and hopefully it will be maintained same way in future days as well.

We took around 6 hours to complete this trek, including our relaxing time and photo session 😊

Once again thanks to Sanjay for making this happen. Finally we covered most of the places around Chintamani. Many of these places are still unknown to lager audience, seriously these places are so beautiful which we ignored all these years. This pandemic situation helped us to explore the places surrounding us 😊
