Magadi Ranganathaswamy Temple

Magadi Ranganatha Swamy temple is one of the weekend gateways around Namma Bengaluru. Temple is located around 50Kms away from Bengaluru.

History of Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple:

The main idol of the god in this temple is facing West, Hence the name Paschima Venkatchalapathy, Magadi is also called as Dakshina Tirupathi which means south Tirupathi. It is said that Lord Ranganatha swamy statue size is growing year by year, so it also called as Beleyo Ranganatha swamy.

While coming back from Savandurga we visited this temple. Many movies were shooted around this temple.

Other places around Magadi are, Savandurga & Thippagondanahalli (T.G.Halli).

In a single day we can cover all these places, but if your planning for Savanduraga trekking its suggested to start early morning and get down by 11.00 Am and while coming back to Bengaluru we can visit other places.

Gorur Dam

Hemavathy dam (also called as Gorur Dam) one of the must visit places around Hassan, which offers a beautiful view to the visitors. The sight is more attractive when the gates of the reservoir are open and the water gushes down in a lovely manner. When gates are closed, it’s not suggested to visit this place.

Best time to visit this place is monsoon and we were lucky enough to visit this beautiful place on the rite time. From Hassan its around 25Kms away (around 205 Kms away from Bengaluru) and roads are too good to reach this wonderful place. Even we can stop on the way in couple of places to see the beauty of Dam’s back water.

While coming back from Mudigere we planned to visit this place, It took around 30 mins to reach Gorur from Hassan but spent more time park our vehicle because of huge crowd.

From main entrance we need to walk a quite distance to reach the gates. There is no entrance fee to enter the Reservoir.

To capture the beauty of water flow in one frame we need to do some circus! But after reaching this place felt like it’s worth to do this circus 😊

There is a garden covered in green grass right next to the dam which enhances the beauty of the location. The garden is often used by the locales as a picnic spot. An early morning visit to the dam offers a wonderful sight of various water birds coming to the reservoir.

When we visit this place even we can visit Shettihalli Church (located in the back waters of this dam). Since the water level was so high we skipped this place during our visit.

Monsoon Drive to Mudigere

Drive in monsoon will be always awesome, but with the bunch of crazy people it will be even more fun. When we decided for a long drive, we thought of some places which are around Chikkamagaluru. Since over we decided for long drive in a last minute, challenge was to get a decent home stay for our trip. Even though we have n-number of home stays around Chikkamagaluru spent some time to get one.

Finally we booked Robusta Valley Stay (Contact number 099866 28555). Homestay is around 35 away from Chikkamagaluru and very much close to Mudigere. Mudigere is around 255 Kms away from Bengaluru. Considering the road conditions we can reach this place easily with in 5 hours.

Started early morning on Saturday, and plan was to have delicious Tuppa Dose in Gajanana Hotel – Haasan on the way. Since Karan had been many times before and suggested this place for breakfast. One should taste Dose at this place whenever you are around Haasan. It’s not the same taste of Dose, It’s totally different and very much delicious.

After having wonderful breakfast we continued our journey, sometime more than the destination we enjoy the journey. This was one of such journey !!

On the way stopped many places to capture the moments in our cameras.

Finally reached our destination Robusta Home stay around 11.00 AM, after completing the check-in formalities dropped all our luggage in room headed towards Devaramane which was just around 16 Kms from our home stay. Since it was raining heavily it took almost 40 mins to reach Devaramane.

Luckily when we reached Devaramane it stopped raining, but totally covered by fog! We were not able to see anything in front of which is even 5 feet distance from us. Even it was too cold around this place. Best time to visit this place, just after end of monsoon season particularly if someone is looking for photography. But during monsoon altogether it’s a different experience.

Hardly we could click some pics around this place.

Spending some time around this place in clicking the pics whenever bit of fog cleared and having bisi bisi bajji 😝 around.

Again rain started, but this time it was quite heavier. Headed back to home stay and it was time for one more round of photo session around home stay.

For next day while coming back to Namma Bengaluru visited Gorur Dam (Hemavathi Dam), since this time monsoon was too good, dam was full and they released the dam water through all gates. Even though the place was too crowded, it was nice experience to witness that moment.

Over all it was good get together and memorable trip!
