Dandeli River Rafting

Dandeli trip will be incomplete if we don’t do Kali River rafting, since we didn’t get a chance for rafting on first try. Though we visited Syntheri Rocks and other places around, trip was not completed without rafting. We were eagerly waiting for the update from the form house guy. 

We were informed that rafting may start around 9.00AM and be ready by 8.00AM. Finally around 8.30AM they have confirmed that rafting will start and you can go and pay the fee.  We rushed towards Jungle lodges and resorts (We need to pay and get receipt here for the rafting; from here they will take us to rafting place from government vehicle). They will charge Rs.1550/- per head (including transport) for rafting. 

By the time we reached already it was too crowded and there was a long ‘Q’ waiting for their turn. We managed to get a slot and finally we reached rafting place around 10.00AM.

Dandeli river rafting (also known as Kali river rafting) will be conducted by government, it’s around 9.5Kms and we will come across 7 rapids. Better not to carry any valuables along with you.  Megha Raj was our guide for these ride along with us one more couple boarded our boat. Initially he gave us instructions to be followed during the ride. Finally we headed towards much awaited rafting… !!!

Near first rapid one person will be clicking pics, they will charge Rs.500/- for photos and we will get around 30 to 35 photos. They will provide a soft copy of photos. (Only near first rapid they will click pics).

 

Thrilling moment 😃

Along with rafting we get a chance to do bird watching also, Megha Raj was explaining about the birds which we sighted on the way.

At rapid 4, Chetan fell down to river losing his balance along with the other person, seriously it was a scary moment of the ride…!!! Managed to pull him back quickly, later he told he hurted his left hand when he fell down.

Near last rapid our guide Megha Raj asked us to jump into water, really it was ultimate moment, jumping in such fast flowing water. Personally I enjoyed a lot.    

It will be around 1 hour ride, trust me you will enjoy the ride for sure. Only boring part is jeep ride...!!!

Came back near Jungle lodges & resorts around 1.00PM, we changed our wet cloths and headed to collect our pics. Near Dandeli bus stop in one studio we can collect the rafting pics. After collecting pics there was nothing much to do, our intention of the trip was fulfilled along with rafting and after finishing lunch headed back to Bangalore.

One more adventurous trip of the year, finally completed long awaited Kali river rafting.
