Hosahalli Betta Trek
During our visit to Sakleshpur, we planned a short trek for the second day of our stay. Since the homestay was surrounded by hills and greenery, we had a couple of trekking options. Finally, we decided to visit Hosahalli Betta, which is around 16 km from our homestay and is known for its peaceful views and easy trail 🌿⛰️.
Hosahalli Betta is a lesser-known hill in the Western Ghats region. It has been used by locals for farming and as a watch point in earlier days. Today, it is slowly gaining popularity among trekkers for its calm environment and scenic views.
We started early at around 7:00 AM, hoping to return by breakfast time. It took us about 30 minutes to reach the trek base. This time, Google Maps guided us perfectly, and the drive itself was very scenic 🚗🌄.
When we reached the spot, one group was already at the top of the hill. There was plenty of open space for parking. We had heard that there might be a jeep route to the top, but we didn’t find any jeeps. To restrict private vehicles from entering, a large pit has been dug near the entrance, so trekking is the only option now.
We started climbing slowly. This trek was special because it was the first trek with my daughter ❤️. Though the trail is not very difficult, I was excited and a little nervous too.
The path is mostly easy, but since it was slippery in some places, carrying a child made the climb slightly challenging. Surprisingly, we reached the top first among our group 🎉.
At the top, there is a Stambha (pillar), and the view from here is simply breathtaking 😍. Green valleys, rolling hills, and fresh air — it was totally worth the climb.
The descent was easier and took much less time. We safely reached the parking area and then headed back to our homestay.
We reached our homestay by around 11:00 AM. After some rest, we planned our second half of the day by visiting the beautiful Mookanamane Falls 💦🌿.
Hosahalli Betta Trek is perfect for beginners, families, and anyone looking for a short and peaceful hike near Sakleshpur 🌄💚. If you enjoy nature, fresh air, and beautiful views without a tough climb, this trek should definitely be on your list. Start early, carry water, and enjoy every step of the journey!
Happy trekking 😊🥾
