Dodda Alada Mara - Big Banyan Tree

Known as Dodda Alada Mara in local Kannada language, Big Banyan Tree is a four century old Banyan tree surrounded with its close to thousand areal roots, covering a massive area of 3 acres. By walking one round around the big banyan tree, you will be covering quarter of a km. Big Banyan tree campus is well maintained and is one of the popular picnic spots around Bengaluru. 

Big Banyan tree is about 30 Kms from Bengaluru city center, towards Mysore road. Once on Mysore road, need to take right turn near Rajarajsehswari Engineering College (Kumbalgod Junction), from where it is one straight road all the way till Big Banyan Tree. Manchanabele dam and Savandurga are other two nearby places.




















Basic amenities are available around Big Banyan Tree, but for proper facilities, you will have to return to Mysore road. Do carry the essentials and be wary of monkeys. Do enjoy some sweet tender coconut water often sold by the roadside in this area.

 Given its ancient nature, avoid going too close to the tree or activities such as climbing, hanging on to a branch etc. You may damage the tree and injure yourself as well.

    The combination of Big Banyan Tree and Manchenbelle Reservoir makes for a well-balanced one-day trip: shade, greenery, and scenic views.

Kabbalu betta trekking is one of the options for the hikers around bengaluru and located near Kanakapura talluku. Its   around 80Kms from Bengaluru. We have couple of options to reach Kabbalu:  Bangalore > Ramnagar > Chenpatna > Kabbalu (82 KMs) Bangalore > Kanakapura > Satanuru >Kabbalu (87 Kms) I had been to this place many times before but could not get a change to trek this hill, it is one of the best places for those who wish to start trekking.  Since it’s a last minute plan, could not invite anyone for this trekking. Mawsawdong Falls

We kicked off our day in Cherrapunji with excitement, ready to explore some amazing spots nearby. Our first stop was Mawsmai Caves , one of the popular attractions in the area. The cave isn’t too long, but it’s packed with interesting spots and unique formations. This little adventure set the tone for the rest of our day. To get to Mawsawdong Falls, we drove a short distance from our earlier stops. The path to the falls took us through small villages, scenic hills, and patches of thick green forest, giving us a glimpse of the peaceful countryside. Once we arrived, we followed a short, easy trail that led us down to the waterfall. The water flowed gracefully over the rocks, creating a beautiful cascade. Unlike some of the bigger waterfalls in the area, Mawsawdong has a calm and peaceful vibe. The falls flow into a clear, natural pool below, with rocks and trees surrounding the area.
