Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta

Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta is a hill located in the Gundlupete Taluk, Chamarajanagar district.

We were on our way to Bandipur when we decided to visit Gopalaswamy Betta. It had been a long time since I had been to this beautiful place. However, when we saw the crowd on the way, we decided to go to Bandipur first and visit Gopalaswamy Betta on our way back.

Gopalaswamy Betta gets its name from the ancient ascetic temple dedicated to Lord Krishna on top of the hill. The name "Himavad" comes from the fact that the hill is often covered in mist throughout the year.

To reach the temple, we needed to park our vehicles and take a government bus or opt for a Jeep ride, which cost us 1500 rupees for a round trip. Since there were seven of us, we chose the Jeep due to the crowded bus.

Halfway up the hill, it started raining heavily, making the journey quite challenging, especially with children. The strong wind made it impossible to use an umbrella, and the visibility was so poor that we couldn't see anything beyond a few feet.

We quickly had a brief visit to the temple and then waited for the rain to stop. Fortunately, it eventually cleared up for about 10 minutes, allowing us to take some pictures before heading back to the Jeep.

Once we descended from the hill, the rain had completely stopped.

On our way back, we made a stop to take some pictures in a sunflower field. They charged us 50 rupees to enter the area. We spent some time taking photos and then continued our journey back to Bengaluru.
