Horsley Hills

Horsley Hills is one of the perfect weekend getaway from Bengaluru, a bike ride to Horsley Hills offers a thrilling and scenic adventure. Located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, Horsley Hills is approximately 150 KM from Bengaluru, making it an ideal destination for a short road trip.

We can take multiple routes to reach Horsley Hills but we chose,  Bengaluru – Hoskote – Chintamani – Madanapalle – Horsley Hills route. Its approximately 150 KM from Bengaluru and need 4-5 hours (depending on number of breaks we take).

The road conditions are generally good, with a mix of highways and country roads. After Hoskote, it's a single road, but the condition is relatively good. Be cautious of some potholes and patches after crossing Chintamani.

Arvind and I started our ride at 5:30 AM to avoid city traffic and enjoy the cool morning breeze. The roads were relatively empty, and the slight drizzling added to the beauty of the journey.

After riding for about 30 kilometers, we reached Hoskote. After crossing Hoskote and taking a deviation to Chintamani, we took a short break to grab some breakfast. There are several small eateries where you can enjoy a quick meal.

The next leg of the journey is from Hoskote to Chintamani, around 50 kilometers. The roads are mostly good, with some scenic spots along the way. We stopped near Mylapura for a quick break to stretch our legs and I explained to Arvind about Mylapura Betta.

We stopped for a quick break after crossing Madanapalle near a lake, clicked a couple of pics, and then headed towards Horsley Hills.

At the check post, we paid Rs. 30 for each bike. The final stretch involves a climb up the Horsley Hills. The ghat section is well-maintained, with hairpin bends and breathtaking views. The ascent is not very steep, making it suitable for bikers of all experience levels.

We reached Horsley Hills around 9:30 AM. The hill station is serene and less crowded compared to other tourist spots. The weather was pleasant, providing a perfect respite from the city heat.

Viewpoint offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. We spent some time here, clicking pictures and soaking in the scenery.

There are activities like zip-lining and rappelling for thrill-seekers, but we decided not to try any of those this time.

After spending a peaceful day at Horsley Hills, we started our return journey around 12:00 PM. The descent was smooth, and the evening ride back to Bengaluru was equally enjoyable. We reached Bengaluru by 6:00 PM, concluding a memorable day trip.
