Dorekere
We don’t always have to travel far outside the city to witness a beautiful sunrise, sunset, or enjoy some peaceful time in nature. Sometimes, if we just look around, we can find wonderful places very close to us.
In Namma Bengaluru, there are many such hidden spots. One such peaceful place is Dorekere Lake, located near Uttarahalli. It is a quiet and scenic lake where people often come for walking, bird watching, and enjoying the calm surroundings.
A Bit of History 📜
The name “Dorekere” comes from the Kannada words “Dore” (King) and “Kere” (Lake), meaning “The King’s Lake.” Many lakes around Bengaluru were built centuries ago by local rulers to store rainwater and support farming in nearby villages.
These lakes played an important role in the traditional water management system of the region. Even today, places like Dorekere remind us of Bengaluru’s rich history of lakes and natural water bodies.
I regularly visit this place for my morning walk or evening walk with my mom because it offers a peaceful environment and fresh air. The calm water of the lake, birds flying around, and the greenery nearby make the walk very refreshing.
This time, for a change, I carried my camera along with me. My plan was to try capturing some birds around the lake, and luckily I managed to click a few nice pictures. Watching the birds and enjoying the quiet atmosphere made the visit even more enjoyable. 🐦📸
It’s always a great feeling to spend some time in such a simple and beautiful place.
Dorekere is a simple yet beautiful place where you can slow down and enjoy nature. Whether it’s a peaceful walk, bird watching, or just spending a quiet moment near the water, this lake offers a refreshing break from city life.
Sometimes, the best experiences are not far away. Places like Dorekere remind us that nature and peace can be found right within our own city if we take the time to explore. 🌳✨
