Minchukal Betta Trek

After a long gap of a few months without any trips, we badly needed a quick escape from our routine life. 🌿☀️ One reason after another kept delaying our plans, and with summer arriving in full force, the heat made us even more lazy to travel. Finally, Kiran suggested a Sunrise Trek to Minchukal Betta organized by the Charana team, and we immediately booked our slots for the first week of April.

Unfortunately, due to a medical emergency, we had to postpone the trek twice. But as they say, good things take time — we finally made it happen in the third week of April! 😄🥾

About Minchukal Betta 🌄

Minchukal Betta is a peaceful hill located near Tumakuru district in Karnataka. It is still lesser-known compared to other popular treks around Bengaluru, which makes it perfect for people looking for a calm and crowd-free experience. The place is surrounded by rocky hills, open landscapes, and beautiful sunrise views. 🌅

The region around Tumakuru has historical importance and is known for its ancient hills, forts, and temples built during the rule of local dynasties and the Vijayanagara period. Many hills in this region were once used as watch points because of their height and strategic location.

Journey Begins 🚗✨

The plan was to gather near Tumakuru around 5:00 PM and spend the evening birdwatching near a water channel before sunset. Despite the usual weekend traffic from Bengaluru, we reached the location on time and felt relieved to finally begin our much-awaited break. 😊

The evening turned out to be beautiful. We spotted a few birds while walking along the channel and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. Sitting quietly and watching the golden sunset with cool breeze around us felt refreshing after weeks of hectic work life. 🐦🌅

After returning to the farmhouse, it was time for camping activities. We pitched our tents ⛺, prepared dinner together, and spent some peaceful time reading stories by legendary Kannada writer Poornachandra Tejaswi before calling it a day. The calm atmosphere, village silence, and starry sky made the experience even more special. ✨📖

The Sunrise Trek 🌄🥾

We were instructed to wake up by 4:30 AM and get ready by 5:00 AM. The base farmhouse was just about 15 minutes away from the trek starting point. Surprisingly, we were ready even before time! 😄

Since there were only four members in the group including our trek lead, the trek started quickly without any delay. The hike itself was simple and beginner-friendly. Even though it was still dark while climbing, the cool breeze and silent surroundings made the experience memorable.

Within a short time, we reached the peak well before sunrise and patiently waited for nature’s magic to begin. Slowly, the sky started changing colors from dark blue to orange and golden shades. Watching the sunrise from the top of the hill was absolutely worth the effort. 🌅❤️

We spent some peaceful moments at the peak, enjoying the fresh air, open views, and silence away from city noise. Since it was dark during the climb, we could not click many pictures earlier, but while descending we captured a few beautiful shots of the rocky hill and surrounding greenery. 📸🌿

By around 7:30 AM, we were back at the farmhouse for breakfast. Keeping the hot summer afternoon in mind, we started our return journey soon after breakfast.
