Mudigere – The Edge Stay

Image
Our aim of this trip was just to drive away from bengaluru and spend some good time in nature, and we found ‘ The Edge Stay ‘ home stay and turned out perfect place for relaxation. There was no much plans during this trip, we just thought of spending some relaxing time together, its been more than a decade we went out with this group. We were lucky enough to get the bookings at the last minute. Thanks to Homestay guys for making necessary adjustment to accommodate us 😊 The Edge Stay home stay is around 250 Kms from Bengaluru and the road condition is pretty good. It took almost 6 hours for us to reach the destination including our breaks. Reached our destination around 1.00 PM, first look of the home was impressive. The property is nearly 70 years old and they tried to retain the vintage touch across the property. Specially need to mention about the food delivered here, its awesome food. For dinner they will provide BBQ that’s the highlight. We can see different and rare species of bi...

Image
There are lot of historical places around Namma Bengaluru, one such place is Bheema Bakasura betta which is around 70 Kms from Bengaluru. This hill is located in a small village called Kaiwara, Chikkaballapura district. This place is more famous for many other temples say Kaiwara Tatayya temple, Amaranarayana Swamy Temple & Bhemmalingeshwara Temple.   History of Kaiwara betta: Kaiwara also has various stories attached to Ramayana & Mahabharata. Mythology has it that Bhima killed Bakasura during the exile period of the Pandavas when they stayed at Kaiwara. From past one year I have covered most of the hills around Chintamani and this was pending in the list. One weekend we started this trek early morning (just to avoid the heat). From Chitamani this hill is around 12 Kms and takes approximately 20 mins to reach.   There is plenty of parking place near Amaranarayana Swamy Temple, one should park their vehicles near this temple. A  small walk in the narrow road oppos...

Chandravalli, a cave temple located near 3 Kms from Chitradurga (around 200 Kms from Bengaluru), while driving back from Hampi we stopped to visit this place.   Initially we thought of visiting Chitradurga fort, but keeping time constraints in mind we stopped at this beautiful place. There is enough parking place near the entrance.   Once we enter the primacies it will welcome us with a beautiful lake.   One should walk around 500 Mts to reach the temple from entrance.   It will take close to 1 hour to explore this place (depending on the guide a s well)   About Chandravalli Caves: This temple is located in the midst of three hills, Chitradurga, Cholagudda and Kirubanakallu. The cave is located between two giant monolithic rocks. The cave is also known as the Ankali Mutt.   Chandravalli was once known as Chandanavati, which means "in the shape of the moon". The earthen pots, coins, bowls and other items found here cast a light on the place's rich history. ...

Anjanadri Betta

Image
Anjanadri betta was in my bucket list from quite some time. Though visited Hampi multiple times before, didn’t get a chance to visit Anjanadri betta. This time main intention of visiting Hampi was mainly to visit Anjanadri Betta. Anjanadri betta is said to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. Its around 30 Kms from Hospete & 3 Kms from Anegundi village. Plan was to visit Anjanadri betta after 3.00 PM so that we can witness sunset also from here(very famous for sunset). After having lunch at Hospete, we headed towards Anjanadri betta and it took almost 1 hour for us to reach our destination. But after reaching there only we came to know that due to wild animal attack at this place, visitors are only allowed from 10.00 AM to 2.00 PM (this was temporary timings). So headed back to Hospete without climbing the hill. Next day again we reached hill around 10.00 AM. There is a neat space for parking our vehicles roadside. First look of Anjanadri betta from parking place. We must climb about...
