Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta
Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta is a hill located in the Gundlupete Taluk, Chamarajanagar district. We were on our way to Bandipur when we decided to visit Gopalaswamy Betta. It had been a long time since I had been to this beautiful place. However, when we saw the crowd on the way, we decided to go to Bandipur first and visit Gopalaswamy Betta on our way back. Gopalaswamy Betta gets its name from the ancient ascetic temple dedicated to Lord Krishna on top of the hill. The name "Himavad" comes from the fact that the hill is often covered in mist throughout the year. To reach the temple, we needed to park our vehicles and take a government bus or opt for a Jeep ride, which cost us 1500 rupees for a round trip. Since there were seven of us, we chose the Jeep due to the crowded bus. Halfway up the hill, it started raining heavily, making the journey quite challenging, especially with children.
