Trek to Avani Betta

Some adventures stay on our bucket list for years, and Avani Betta was one of them for me. After canceling the trip a couple of times over the last few months, I finally decided that this time there would be no excuses. It was time for a solo ride and an early morning trek! 🏍️✨

🏍️The Ride to Avani Betta

I started my journey from Bengaluru at exactly 5:00 AM to avoid traffic and finish the trek before the sun became too harsh. Riding through the peaceful morning roads was refreshing, and by 7:00 AM I reached Avani. Thankfully, Google Maps guided me perfectly this time without any confusion! 😄

There was plenty of parking available near the trek starting point, making the experience hassle-free.

🥾 Short History of Avani Betta:

Avani Betta is a historic hill located in the Kolar district of Karnataka, around 95 km from Bengaluru. The place holds great importance in Hindu mythology and is often associated with the Ramayana. According to local belief, Maa Sita gave birth to Lava and Kusha here while staying at the ashram of Sage Valmiki after leaving Ayodhya.

Avani Betta is a beautiful place where mythology meets adventure. As I reached the base, a local guide offered to accompany me for ₹300, but I wanted to enjoy the silence and complete the trek on my own.

I was the only person on the trail, surrounded by complete peace. It was the perfect opportunity to enjoy nature and capture some beautiful photographs without any crowd. 📸🌿

At the hilltop, you’ll find a small temple dedicated to Maa Sita. Today, Avani Betta is a perfect blend of mythology, history, and nature, attracting both pilgrims and trekking enthusiasts. Since I reached very early, the temple was still closed, but the cool morning breeze and panoramic views made the climb completely worthwhile. 🌄🙏

The trek is short and easy, covering around 5 km (round trip) and can be completed in about 1 hour.

After spending some peaceful moments at the top, I made my way back to the base and continued my journey to the nearby Ramalingeshwara Temple which is known for its beautiful ancient architecture and is believed to date back to the Nolamba, Chola, and Vijayanagara periods.

This solo trek was more than just checking off a bucket-list destination—it was about keeping a promise to myself. The peaceful trail, beautiful hilltop views, and the calm morning atmosphere made it a memorable experience.

If you’re looking for a short, scenic trek near Bengaluru, Avani Betta is a wonderful destination for both adventure and peace. Happy trekking! 🏍️🌄
