Cherrapunji
On the fourth day of our Meghalaya trip, my friends and I finally arrived in Cherrapunji. This place is famous for its rain and beautiful landscapes, and we were all eager to explore it. After visiting places like Shillong and Dawki, we were excited to experience the misty hills and green valleys that Cherrapunji is known for.
We booked our stay at Serenity Travellers Inn, located on the outskirts of the main city. The place was quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing. In the early morning, I took a walk around the area and managed to take some beautiful pictures of the landscape. The clouds and rain kept coming and going, but I was able to get a few good shots despite the changing weather.
I also had an exciting moment with some unexpected guests! I had been hoping to see some birds, and luckily, I spotted a stunning long-tailed shrike. The long-tailed shrike, also known as the rufous-backed shrike, is a bird found across Asia. I was thrilled to capture it in my camera, as it was one of my favorite sightings of the trip.
The Eurasian hoopoe is the most widespread species of the genus Upupa. It is a distinctive cinnamon coloured bird with black and white wings, a tall erectile crest, a broad white band across a black tail, and a long narrow downcurved bill.
My friends and I even managed to take some great profile pictures with the beautiful background of Cherrapunji.
After spending some time taking photos, we began our trek to the famous Double-Decker Living Root Bridge. On the way, we made a quick stop to admire the beauty of Dainthlen Falls, which was absolutely worth it.
Our day in Cherrapunji was filled with fun, laughter, and a sense of adventure. Being surrounded by such natural beauty, along with my close friends, made it extra special. Cherrapunji was everything we had imagined, we felt grateful for the unforgettable memories we had created together.
