Shnongpdeng Dwaki

Shnongpdeng and Dawki were high on our wishlist, and we didn’t want to miss them on this trip. After an unforgettable stay in Mawlynnong, our adventure in Meghalaya continued as we headed to the beautiful riverside spots of Shnongpdeng and Dawki. Known for its crystal-clear waters and scenic beauty. With friends by my side, we were ready to explore and enjoy some fun by the river.

Our excitement to visit Dawki and Shnongpdeng was high, as these spots were at the top of our wishlist. However, our hopes for crystal-clear waters faded quickly. We soon realized that the stunning blue-green river we’d seen in Instagram reels and on Google wasn’t what we’d be seeing this time. Though we were in the right place, it turned out to be the wrong season. The ideal time for clear water views is between November and March, but due to a week of continuous rain, the river looked more turbulent and cloudy.

Since we had a booking at a riverside camp in Shnongpdeng, we decided to at least stop by and check it out. Upon reaching Shnongpdeng, we took a quick dip in the river, enjoying some time in the water. Unfortunately, we had to skip the boat rides and other activities due to the conditions.

After snapping a few pictures to capture the moment, we decided to cancel our camp plans and continue our journey to Cherrapunji. Although it wasn’t quite the experience we’d imagined, the visit was still memorable and reminded us of nature’s unpredictability.
